Overview

Countrymen BBQ, nestled in the heart of Inola, Oklahoma, is a destination for true barbecue enthusiasts seeking an authentic and memorable experience. This restaurant operates with a unique rhythm—opening only on Saturdays for a brief window, making each visit feel like a special event rather than an everyday stop. The location at 24 W Commercial St provides a cozy, approachable setting with both indoor and outdoor seating, catering to families, friends, and anyone serious about quality smoked meats.

The star of their menu is undoubtedly the smoked meats, with pork ribs and the legendary beef “Dino” ribs drawing significant praise. These ribs are more than just a dish; they are a testament to patience and craftsmanship, often requiring over 40 hours of preparation. When paired with sides like baked beans, mac & cheese, and their twist on Mexican street corn, the meal transcends expectations and becomes a full-sensory experience. The inclusion of classic Southern staples like sweet iced tea and homemade lemonade rounds out the offerings with refreshing balance.

Patrons often highlight the “Taste of Everything” platter, which offers a varied but harmonious showcase of their smoked pork, brisket, and ribs—each piece tender, perfectly seasoned, and rich with smoky depth. The sides complement the meats without overshadowing them, enhancing every bite. Desserts like the bread pudding with rum sauce and chocolate delight provide a fitting, indulgent finale to the meal.

Beyond the food itself, Countrymen BBQ is defined by its atmosphere and community-driven service. The owner and staff foster an inviting and respectful environment, making waiting in line—sometimes over an hour—an opportunity to connect and share the anticipation. Customers are encouraged to bring friends and even a “line beer,” turning the wait into a social tradition as much as a prelude to dining.

This place stands apart not only because of its tradition and top-tier barbecue but also for its commitment to quality over convenience. It caters to a discerning audience—those willing to plan, to wait, and to savor the rich, smoky flavors that can only come from dedication and time. With its rustic charm, prime location just off Highway 412, and fiercely loyal customer base, Countrymen BBQ is a must-visit for anyone serious about American barbecue culture.

Countrymen BBQ is definitely my choice for the best barbecue in Oklahoma! It's only open on Saturdays at five and I highly recommend getting there early to wait in line. It's worth it to have your best chance to get what you want from the menu. They sell out quickly, so be forewarned. I got the "Taste of Everything" platter and feed my family for multiple days. While everything was honestly elite, the dino beef ribs, spare ribs, and brisket are probably the headliners. Also, make sure you get the sides. The green beans are delicious but the other sides were right behind them. I can't post this without adding how incredible the service was as well. The owner and the staff were absolutely spot on with how they treated everyone that came through the door! I definitely recommend you head to Inola and check this place out.

This is a place and an experience that demands - and rewards - thoughtful, deliberate action. Eat very light the day of, probably even the day before. Get there an hour before opening, at the absolute latest. Bring a friend, or two, or three. And definitely keep some extra cash on hand for “line beers” while you wait (or bring your own, as long as it’s a sixer of Quttin’ Time). The pulled pork alone would run half the establishments in Memphis out of business, but that’s just the undercard as far as we’re concerned. The great white whale of BBQ, the beef rib (or, in Countrymen parlance, the Dino Rib) - puts Texas powerhouses like Cattleack to shame. And to top it all off, make sure you save some room for the bread pudding at the end. This is a place that spends over 40 hours preparing food that is only served for three hours every week, and I hope that never changes. Joe and his team represent an uncompromising bulwark against a world that prizes instant gratification at the expense of quality. There will come a day when you’ll have to be here at 5 AM for even a chance at the best these folks have to offer, and when it does, I’ll be there with a Quittin’ Time in hand and five more to share with whoever manages to show up next.

Excellent BBQ! Exceeded our expectations. Everything was well seasoned and tasted great - brisket, pulled pork, ribs, bologna, baked beans, etc, etc. Everyone was very friendly and helpful. Both inside and outside seating. Not far off highway 412. It's definitely worth it! Be sure to check open hours. You're gonna' love it!

The wait was right an hour & 20 minutes on a cold drizzle Saturday , as you wait in line and decide what you will choose to eat you discover as they run out of an item they come erase it from the menu board, luckily I scored some ribs, burnt ends & sliced brisket, it was very moist and great smoke flavor, I had baked beans (2servings) they were pretty good.

Pulled up 5 mins before open and the line was already around the building Waited like 1.5 hrs . They were handing out beers for sale while we waited, which was kinda a W. Tbh, wish they had a faster setup — Texas BBQ got that part down better. Copped 6 Dino Ribs and they slapped fr . The Mexican corn? Bussin’. Vibe inside was trendy and mad chill. I’d def spin the block again.

Open one day a week. Saturday from 5-8 or until sold out. We were 5th in line at 4pm. We ordered the “Taste of Everything” for $125, feeds 5-8. We took bowls a cooler and ice. This 2 hour meal was delicious and most ventured home with us on ice. 2 meat plates with two sides were available for $20/each .
